 A stray dog monument was inaugurated this past weekend, the last Year of the Dog according to the Chinese calendar, next to the entrance of one of the subway stations in Moscow. The memorial, titled ‘Compassion’ by sculptor Alexander Tsigal and architect Andrei Nalich, was installed in an underpass next to the lobby Mendeléievskaya station, where several years ago I was stabbed a stray dog that was allowed employees metro . The sculpture, depicting Malchik, was funded by donations from individuals both in Russia and abroad.
